Attn People Who Stutter: This Is Status Quo
Depending where you are when it comes to how you feel about your stutter, these slides may be terrifying or a relief to read. I decided about 10 years ago that something needed to change. In honor of national stuttering awareness week, I’ll be sharing a series of posts about how I got there. And if you don’t stutter, these things can certainly apply to any part of your life that makes you feel insecure or how else to function in society.
I hate when people say “You aren’t a victim” because in some ways, we are all victims of the standards society has tried to place on us. Instead, my message is that you are not helpless. That victims can have great, great power. Some days, it will feel like the world is against you and it is heavy. Some days, it feels like the world is on your side. And some days, it may feel like the world is against you, but you have hope. Hope that things can change. And that you can be a part of that change.
And isn’t that even more empowering?
Can’t wait to share this.
Love, Ezra

@westutter - Here for the message of creating a life you can love no matter what! 👏
@martha_speech - Gah I love this. In an ideal world, we would all accept ourselves for who we are - but it’s truly not that easy. Thanks for the reminder that acceptance is really more of a journey than a destination and sometimes just acknowledging that you don’t accept a part of yourself is huge.
@jenielsen51 - Enjoyed this post and looking forward to hearing more 🙌
@dracuvica - this account made me start the journey of acceptance a week ago, as a 19yo. I'm tired of hiding my stutter. in the end it will only drain me more than just be at peace with it. but I know that this won't be easy either, especially in the beginning. how can I accept something I tried SOO hard to hide from everyone, even myself?
@lexi.hewitt - Imposter syndrome has been kicking my butt lately and I needed this 🔥
