No Moment (or Stutter) Lasts Forever

PWS

In the moment, stuttering feels endless. But the secret is the opposite - the word will eventually come out. Even if it takes awhile. Even if you end up having to repeat it.

Trying to force it hasn’t worked, has it? If you’re able to, one of these times when you are mid-stutter, remind yourself this won’t last forever.

This is when “voluntary stuttering” can be helpful. The absolute panic that can happen while stuttering may mean it’s impossible to access control over your thoughts in the moment. Choosing to stutter on your own terms can give you practice in being able to THINK mid-stutter.

Eventually the word will come, and this moment will end.
